Blogging and RSS are definitely powerful tools, but they are not being utilized to their full potential. Blogs have much more interaction than previous types of media, such as television or radio. In other forms of media, viewers and listeners do have some form of interaction, but it is only to a certain extent because those things can be screened. The use of the internet however, has almost no limitation on these types of things. I agree with Gilmor when he mentions how business can benefit from their consumers by looking at their blogs. That way, companies can get an inside look at how consumers react to their products and improve on them for the future. Gilmor also mentions in his book about how politicians can utilize the internet to their advantage. This made me think of how Obama has used the internet to further his campaign and not only create supporters, but also funds to help promote his campaign. Gilmor also proposes that journalists should be more involved in blogging and by doing that, they can convey the most accurate information out there. He also mentions on how everybody is a reporter, which does have some truth to it. However, that does not mean everybody is a responsible reporter. Anyone can put anything on the internet but not everybody who posts things online researches thoroughly and accurately.
